Dimo Kirilov

Formerly a principal dancer of Spain’s Compañia Nacional de Danza, Dimo KIRILOV was born in Sofia, Bulgaria where he was a student of the National Ballet School of Sofia. In 1993 he was part of The National Opera of Sofia and a year later, he joined the Jeune Ballet de France.

From 1996 – 2001, Kirilov was a soloist in the Ballet National de Nancy et Lorraine with a repertoire consisting classic productions such as Gisele, Swan Lake, George Balanchine’s Theme and Variations; The Prodigal Son; Tchaikovsky Pas des Deux, as well as works by Jirí Kylián, Jorma Uotinen, Jean-François Duroure, Abou Lagraa, Hans van Manen, amongst others.

Kirilov joined the Compañia Nacional de Danza in September 2001 under the direction of Artistic Director Nacho Duato, where he quickly became a principal dancer. He has taken on numerous key roles in many of Duato's creations, and worked with choreographers such as Kylián, Mats Ek, Wim Vandekeybus, Orjan Andersson, Jacopo Godani, Gustavo Ramirez, and William Forsythe.

He became a freelance artist in 2009, and has collaborated as dancer and assistant in several international projects. His collaborative works include S.O.S and ½ waltz, which he co-choreographed and performed in 2011 with Gentian Doda. With Doda, he also co-created Aimless, which was awarded the first prize at the 2013 Burgos choreographic competitions.
