Vice Dean of Faculty of Performing Arts, Jakarta Institut of the Arts and Director of Indonesian Dance Festival
Born in Jakarta in 1956, Maria DARMANINGSIH was one of the leading contemporary dancers from Indonesia in her era. She trained as a classical Javanese dancer from a young age, before picking up contemporary dance. Educated in dance anthropology, she became a lecturer with the Performing Arts Faculty of Jakarta Institute of Arts (IKJ), and in 1992 founded the Indonesian Dance Festival (IDF) – the first international contemporary dance festival in Jakarta – with colleagues from the Institut. Darmaningsih now serves as Vice Dean of External Affairs at the Performing Arts Faculty of IKJ and also as the Director of IDF.
Oh Sunmyung (Korea)
Producer, Seoul Performing Arts Festival
OH Sunmyung studied contemporary dance and obtained her Ph.D from the Paris VIII University in Dance, Art & Aesthetics; following which she received professorships from several universities in Korea. Oh is currently a producer at the Seoul Performing Arts Festival (SPAF), facilitating the growth of SPAF into a international performing arts festival hub where artists meet, share and communicate.
