Off Stage is an intimate showcase of evolving works-in-progress designed as a haven for experimentation and reworking, allowing room for each presentation to take on a different shape following their initial conceptualisation.
The Festival invites audiences to reciprocate the vulnerability and fearlessness in each work with unreserved feedback and openness in the dialogue segments.
Oscillating between the giver and receiver of touch, every contact point between the bodies of co-creator/performers Chua Pei Yun and Maybelle Lek, and their ensuing sensations, become pivotal to unlocking an array of movement possibilities in the work Moving Through Touch.
Reverberating through our present states of existence is an acutely human pattern of seeking comfort in the familiar. Dissecting its design in the work Limbo, solo choreographer/performer Chloe Chua explores how repetition can paradoxically strip away meaning and add significance at once.
In a digital age where optics often trumps reality, 《肌》Hada casts a critical eye on the fixation on physical perfection. By drawing attention to body dysmorphic disorder, choreographer/performer Xenres Kirishima creates awareness around a silent plague of addiction to the euphoria and catharsis of simultaneously performing and consuming performance.
