Co-presented with Dance Nucleus

This two-week workshop with award-winning choreographer and filmmaker Sue Healey is directed towards participants with some choreographic experience and desire to venture into making dance for the screen. Basic editing skills and its relationship with choreography will be introduced. Practical discussion also includes artistic challenges of working with single screen and multi-screen installation practices, and the history and practice of dancefilm. Participants will work collaboratively to create and solve short film and compositional exercises. By end of the first week, each participant will find a location, create choreography and plan to shoot a short film by the second week.

*There will be a film screening of Sue Healey’s Virtuosi, a feature length documentary of eight New Zealand dance artists, at the Arts House on Wed, 23 Nov, 8pm.
