Afternoon Tea with Shintaro Oue (Choreographer of Dan-su)

DATE / TIME

Sunday 23 June, 2:30PM – 3:30PM

LOCATION

Ginett, Hotel G

Originally from Kyoto, Japanese dance artist Shintaro Oue moved to Germany to study at the Hamburg Ballet School in 1992, and has been based in Europe since then. His career includes dancing for Nederlands Dans Theater 2, as well as a 3-year stint at Sweden’s leading repertoire company for contemporary dance, Cullbergbaletten. A freelance artist since 1999, Oue has created several works and won prizes in various choreography competitions before he started his own independent company, C/Ompany, in 2008, which has since toured to Japan, Sweden and Holland.

In this talk, Oue will be sharing his journey of 20 years as an Asian independent freelance artist in Europe, as well as tips on how to thrive as one.

This talk will be moderated by Jereh Leung, a local independent artist who works across various art disciplines, primarily in the medium of the body.
