In this world premiere, Italian dance company Compagnia Zappalà Danza presents a passionate homage to the great German composer, Johann Sebastian Bach.
For Compagnia Zappalà Danza’s 30th anniversary, artistic director and choreographer Roberto Zappalà brings to life through dance the admiration he has always had for the great German musician. Consisting of pieces created from scratch as well as those drawn from the company’s treasure trove of solos, duets, trios and ensembles, Remaking Bach is an hour-long masterpiece inspired by Bach over three decades of artistic activity.
Bach’s beautiful and crystalline work is the perfect musical synthesis for Zappalà’s sensual and instinctive dance. Like mini-overtures introducing Bach’s notes, the natural beauty of the dancers’ bodies unfold in a collection of sounds inspired by nature and its ‘silences’.
A perfect outing for dance and music lovers, Remaking Bach will charm with its heartbreaking and luminous beauty, transporting you to a pristine world evoking the dawn of humanity.
^Join us for a pre-show talk with Roberto Zappalà on 10 June, 7pm, as he shares insights to the creation of this full-length work.
