Dancing with the Inanimate
How do we move when we collaborate and duet with an inanimate object? How do we give attention, listen to stillness and others that are unpredictable? The ping-pong ball takes on the role as a movement collaborator to engender ways of viewing the movement, dance and the dancing body.
BALL MEASURES #7 movement scores will be introduced to the class to bring further attention to the performance of the relationship with the ping-pong ball. These scores aim to eliminate movement proclivity to challenge the movement performer to multiple and new levels of perception.

Freedom from Limitation
Human beings are creatures that are “free” amidst “limitations” — arising from “limitations”, the body and mind attain “freedom”. Working with this notion of limitation, a space is constructed within the body that allows us to explore objects that are expressive and organic.

Interpreting the “Human” Creature
Our bodies are always thinking. Our bodies know more than our brains. And sometimes, our bodies cause “errors” that cannot be grasped by logic. Here, we dance not to dance, but to interpret our individual yet collectively human realities and psyches. With movement as method and medium, we ask: what kind of creature is a human being?

Instrumental Bodies
Instrumental Bodies – perception VS. sensation is a physical-vocal practice that will guide us to experience the weighty existence of our bodies and the sounds generated within them through different actions with and connections to the floor, alongside floorwork technique, and via a vocal approach. We will investigate the body’s versatile vocalism as transformative language; the range of the voice as muscle. We will practise humming, singing and moving our voice and flesh through and within a space of darkness.

Living Together
Sharing a movement practice that has developed into a nomadic performance intervention, we invite you to encounter a piece of dance marley as a performing body – not only as a surface to dance on, but also as a partner. This performing body has its own temporality, its own way of bending, folding, expanding, curving around our bodies, and supporting us. Together, we will explore the material of the dance marley, learn to move like it moves, to inspire fresh ways of moving and of meeting one another.
